Capture the details while you can… for they are only little once!

You’re having a baby! Whether you’re glowing with excitement, or still processing this life-changing news, I am ready to celebrate the arrival of your little one with you! What better way to remember all of the special details than to freeze them in a photograph.

What Is A Newborn Session?

Newborn sessions capture the perfect fresh details of your brand new baby. There are two kinds of newborn photography: studio & lifestyle.

Studio sessions usually involve wrapping or positioning your baby into adorable poses that will melt your heart. They focus on the features of your newborn. Photographers who specialize in newborn photos know how safely achieve these poses without waking your baby. Scheduling early is important for these sessions as older babies tend to be more sensitive to touch than babies younger than 14 days of age. You will have a hard time choosing which images to hang on your wall!

I pay special attention to your baby’s needs throughout the session and work on their clock. This means that the majority of your session is usually spent soothing and posing baby, as it takes great patience to achieve the cute poses that you love. We may pause for a feeding session, or just for some snuggles to help make them more comfortable. Prepare to spent 1-3 hours in the studio (depending on which session you have chosen).

If parents and siblings are being photographed, I usually try to photograph the group shots in the beginning. I do have a playroom for younger siblings (after their portion of photos is complete) and a comfy couch with Netflix for parents or guest that wish to relax during their baby’s session.

I aim to make your session as enjoyable as possible.

Katherine was super sweet and great to work with. She had so much patience with our little man. She attempted to do as many pictures as possible of the examples I sent. The pictures turned out fantastic! I would highly recommend her and definitely plan to use Katherine for our family pictures in the future.

Why book a Professional Newborn Photographer?

Safety- You are able to sit back and enjoy watching your photographer capture the perfect details of your newborn. You don’t have to be worried about how your baby is handled because in addition to attending safety trainings and hands-on-workshops, your photographer is a mom herself and understands the level of care and patience it takes to make you and your baby feel safe and secure during your session.

Equipment- Your photographer has invested in professional grade cameras, lens, editing software, studio equipment, props and accessories to ensure that your final images are of the highest quality. It is also important that your photographer is educated in photography and editing in order to properly expose your image, achieve perfect colors and polish your images to perfection. This way you can rest assured that your photographer knows how to edit your images and give you a wall-worthy picture, even if your baby develops acne, has peeling skin, or is even a little jaundiced at the time of your session.

Attention to Detail- Photographers that specialize in newborn photography have a special eye for detail. We notice the wrinkles in the blanket, the angle the light fades across your baby’s face, the composition of the image, whether their fingers are laying flat and more. All of these little things make a huge difference in the way your final image looks.

Experience- When you hire a photographer that is experienced in handling newborns it makes all the difference in the experience of your session. Baby’s feed off of our emotion, so by remaining calm and patient, a professional can easily pose and adjust your newborn while still keeping him/her comfortable and content.
